Accessory Review: Amzer Shellster Cover Case for the HTC Amaze 4G

HI got my hands on a new case for my HTC Amaze 4G the other day, so I figured I’d put together a nice little review for those of you who own the same phone and are interested in protecting your investment. After all, it is such a pretty device. I’m sure it would break your heart, as it would mine, if an accidental drop were to occur and you ended up like a big fat crack in the screen — or even worse.

The case I got is made by Amzer, and dubbed the Shellster Cover Case; and just like the name implies, it’s a combination of a shell case and a holster. Before we get into details, take a peek at the gallery below for a good idea of what the case looks like and how it fits on the phone.

The Good - The Shellster case fits perfectly on the HTC Amaze. The case’s design allows easy access to each of the device’s buttons and ports, and it has a nice gripping traction on the back that will help to keep you from accidentally flinging your phone across the room if you quickly pull it out of your pocket.

The edges of the case are slightly raised on the front of the device. This will probably provide a little bit of protection should the devices end up falling flat on its face, but I’m sure a stiff drop on concrete would still take its toll.

Aesthetically, the case is very appealing. It doesn’t look to big or gaudy and it doesn’t add a whole lot of extra bulk or weight to the Amaze, which is already a pretty hefty device on its own.

The last thing I really like about this case is that the holster doubles as a stand. It took me a couple of minuted to figure out how to actually transform it, but after a quick inspection of the holster, I found the mechanism. It has four different levels that provide multiple viewing angles, which would work great if I ever wanted to watch any lengthy videos on my phone. In my case, I don’t often do that, so I use it as more of an alarm clock stand. You can use it however you’d like.

The Bad - Aside from the stand mechanism being a bit hard to find at first, and the fact that it feels just a bit flimsy, there isn’t anything wrong with this case at all. I honestly don’t give a hoot about the stand, so this isn’t even a negative for me. I would suggest this case to anyone who owns an HTC Amaze, especially because it’s not a very expensive case.
