Remember two weeks ago when we reported a possible camera that will be based on Android OS? Well the camera has now been officially released, as the Nikon Coolpix S800c! Now, when you go in to the bathroom and do your “does my butt look big”, duckface, Myspace mirror self shots, you can be sure the resolution is top-notch.

Introducing the first COOLPIX that’s also an Android™ smart device. All the imaging power of a Nikon—superior optics, telephoto zooming, a high-resolution image sensor and much more, meets the endless possibilities of the Android™ OS and Wi-Fi connectivity. Create exceptional photos and Full HD videos, then edit, style and share them easier and faster than ever before.

What a great tagline.Well the rumored specs are true as well, with the 3.5in screen (same size of that other phone), running Gingerbread (Android version 2.3.x), 16Mp, Wi-Fi connectivity, and availability of all Play apps. So even with no the greatest or newest operating version, concerning Android, this should be a very great device, especially for our photographer friends who feel as though Instagram just isn’t enough. Also with Wi-Fi, you be able to share all those great pictures all the time.

This new Android camera is being sold now at 349.95$, from my (read: very lacking) knowledge of cameras, this doesn’t seem like too high/much out of the ball park. Remember that it’s not just a camera, it’s also an Android.

Who planning on taking great pictures of sunrises while playing Angry Birds with us?
