AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich Build Available for Samsung Fascinate

DSCN0821 580x435

Those of you who own a Samsung Fascinate (like myself) know all to well the frustrations we have shared over the past year or so in terms of OS updates, and when they finally have come, have often borked features, brought sluggish performance, or even worse, bricked the phone altogether.

The good news is that the Fascinate has in that time attracted developer tender loving care, and we can now lust in the joy of having our very own Ice Cream Sandwich build. Before we go on, it should be noted that this is a custom build from source and you should not expect everything to work.

What Works:

Radio (Calls / 3G / SMS/MMS)
WiFi (have to manually add networks, very flaky ATM)
BT (pairs with my headset and works for calls, not sure about a2dp, etc)
Orientation sensors
GPS
capacitive buttons
sdcard

What Doesn’t Work:

camera/camcorder
video playback
USB mass storage
signal strength bars
reboot recovery (have to use 3-finger method to get into recovery)

Fortunately most of the major features such as the radio, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS are all functioning. Regardless, this is probably not a build meant for general consumption, and should be treated as such. Head on over to the source link for the full rundown and download links.
