App Review: App2Zip – It’s like App restore on Steroids!
I know so many users out there who are constantly flashing new ROMs who need a quick and easy way of backing up their apps and all of their user configuration files they have an easy way of getting all their apps installed again when flashing a new ROM. I just stumbled across a neat little app that makes setting up your phone after a new flash much faster and easier.
App2Zip, which is an app that requires root, will let you create a zip file of all your apps (user and system apps), including the data, and allows you to choose which apps you want to back up. While similar to some of the stuff Titanium Backup allows you to do, this app is strictly for backing up apps and their data into a zip file. Basic, yet very nice and easy to use.
Once you create your zip file your good to go. Then, you can flash your new ROM and you’ll be ready to use that zip file to restore everything as soon as your device reboots into its new system. All you need to do is flash zip file in your preferred custom recovery and everything will be there and waiting for you when you boot your phone. Even better, it restores all of your configuration files as well. So, the way you had your apps set up when creating the zip file will be the way they are after flashing your zip file.
I just tested this app myself and I am really amazed at how simple this is. You open the app, choose which apps you want to back up, hit the go button and you’re done. I thought Titanium Backup was fast, but this just blows every back up app I have used totally away.
The app itself is free, but there is also a pro version. Check out the free version first, then buy the pro version to support the developer if you like it. Be sure to let us know what you think after you give it a spin.
