[App Review] Bubble Bubble 2 by KwonHuckJune

This game got sent over to me recently, and although I’m not a huge fan of accelerometer games, I decided to give it a spin.  After putting some time in, Bubble Bubble 2 won’t be the most challenging game you will see, but it works as a solid option to kill some free time.

The general idea is you’re a fish swimming around and either avoiding enemies, or using various enhancements to munch them.  The longer you survive and munch the other fish coming after you, you gain experience and evolve into a bigger…errr…fish and get access to other fish.  During the survival your main attack is swimming over various power-ups to unleash bubbles onto the other fish, thus allowing you to grub.  Yes, I’m serious.

For not having a rich graphic approach, the game is still visually entertaining.  Honestly most of the graphics are basically a circle with a fin and eyes.  It’s nothing that will push the video resources.  Using the neon colors  puts a nice twist on it without making it too corny.

Hardware response was really good.  No hesitation or lag when shifting directions, and it was easy to pick up on accelerating and decelerating.  I also noticed while playing there was no device lag or excess heat even when i had a ton of enemies chasing after me and was slinging bubbles all over.

If you’re looking for a major challenge kind of games, this won’t be it.  It’s real cheesy, and very simple to play.  It will however be entertaining for kids or adults.  I just can’t say that it’s something you’re going to put a ton of hours into or keep installed on the phone long term.  It will keep your attention for a while, but it won’t distract you from anything else around.

One last thought.  The opening screen might need a change.  It’s probably not a good idea to have an iPhone on the opening screen for Android devices.

I give it a 3/5 rating.
