ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T gets a Taste of Jelly Bean via AOSP ROM

It looks like the Amazon Kindle Fire isn’t the only non-Nexus device to get a taste of Android 4.1 and all of its Jelly Bean goodness today. If you’re rocking an ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T and you like to live on the bleeding edge of technology, you’ll be excited to learn that the latest flavor of Android has been ported over to your device, thanks to XDA Recognized Developer XpLoDWilD.

Unfortunately, this ROM isn’t quite as stable as Hashcode’s work on the Kindle Fire, but hey — this is a completely different device we’re talking about, and it’s still the second tablet not bearing the Nexus moniker to get Jelly Bean (to my knowledge), so you’re still sitting in pretty good shape. These bugs will soon get worked out, it’s only a matter of time. Take a look below for the rundown of the goods and bads.

What works:
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- Storage
- Audio playback
- Sensors

What doesn’t work:
- Camera
- Audio volume (is stuck at either 0 or 50%)
- Audio recording likely
- HW Video playback (but software playback works)
- Screenshot

If you simply cannot wait until an updated version is pushed out, head on over to the original thread on XDA for the download, installation instructions and discussion you’ll need to get you on your sugary way. Enjoy!
