ASUS Transformer TF101 gets an AOSP dose of Jelly Bean Goodness, Minus Camera Support

asus transformer tf101

I’m going to keep this post short, due to the excitement I am experiencing right now over the fact that I just stumbled across an AOSP Android 4.1 ROM for the original ASUS Transformer (TF101) over on the XDA Forums. By now, you all know the hype, so there’s no need to dig too deep, but it looks like this ROM is probably capable of being a daily driver for many of you, as long as you can deal without camera support — it’s still borked for now, but I’m sure it will be fixed soon.

Shoutouts and credits to XDA Senior Member rayman33 for posting this. Have a look at the details below.

What works :

  • Android 4.1.1 system
  • UI elements (EasterEgg when tapping on the version number does work, too)
  • Launcher is buttery smooth !
  • Live wallpapers
  • Bluetooth
  • adb push/pull/…commands
  • Overclock up to 1.6 GHZ stable (included Harmony Kernel modded for JellyBean)
  • Gallery App
  • Keyboard Dock (once docked, it will let you choose your language)
  • Lockscreen
  • Rotation (no blackscreen!)
  • WiFi (#2)
  • Sound (#2)
  • GPS (#2)

What doesn’t :

  • Camera
  • Maybe more …?

Excited yet? I know I am, as well as a couple of the other authors here on OMG!Droid who are still proudly rocking our TF101′s. If you’d like to try this out for yourself, head over to the ROM thread for the download and discussion. Make sure to read everything first and make a Nandroid backup before flashing, just in case.

Thanks, Antony!
