Blazing fast new CyanogenMOD build servers are now online

A short while back, the CyanogenMOD team asked the community for support in the form of monetary donations that would be used to purchase new server computers to help the team distribute its custom ROM series.

Within a matter of hours, the cash was raised and the new servers were acquired. To make a really long story short, these new computers are some pretty kick-ass machines. They’ve each got 12 cores apiece and 32GB of RAM. They are so fast, they can spit out CyanogenMOD builds in under 10 minutes.

Now those servers are all set up and ready to rock. The CM team took to its official blog to let the community know with the following post:

We put out a call for help back in February asking for support from the community to help us get our nightly builds back up to speed. The community answered our call in force! With the contributions, we were able to acquire three Dell R610 servers. Each server has dual Xeon X5675 CPUs (12 cores total) and 32 GB of RAM. These are some serious machines! We also purchased a few new devices for our team members with what was left. Your donations have helped us to grow immensely.

The servers have been installed and are now starting builds. These machines can build CM9 in about 9 minutes, pretty serious stuff. We still need to set up a scheduler to automate the process of building every target- I expect this to be done in the next few days. We’ll make another announcement when nightly builds are being made for all targets on a predictable basis.

The servers have been dubbed “Inky”, “Pinky” and “Blinky” and there has even been a screenshot released of the first official build to roll off of any of the new servers. This build came from Inky and the screenshot was shared on Google+. Check it out below:

This can only mean we are one step closer to seeing some stable CM9 builds. That’s when we can officially say shit has popped off.

Stay tuned. We’ll be sure to let you know when they arrive.
