Foursquare for Android updated with friend suggestions and more
Foursquare received an update in the Android Market last night bringing us to version 2011.11.17, obviously named after the date it was released. A few new features were added in this update. You can now share checkins from the checkin details screen. You can also get friend suggestions by hitting up the “Me” tab, which is a pretty nice addition — who can’t use some new friends? Lastly, you can now log in using your Facebook credentials if you’ve already connected through the Foursquare website.
Foursquare has come a long way since its creation in 2009. The service now boasts over 10 million “checkin junkies” and is available in English, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. With an average of 3 million checkins a day, Foursquare has definitely become a force to be reckoned with. I remember being in the first handful of people using the service, when a bunch of friends looked at me like I was the plague because I was using an Android app to check in at places. Now, needless to say, they’re all racing to become the mayor, and some of them are even known for being a “checkin faker.” This, my friends, is one of the worst social crimes you can be accused of.
At any rate, your download link awaits you below. Get your update and do your thing. Enjoy!
