Galaxy Nexus 2 mockup images surface with some amazing rumored specs

GalaxyNexusTwoHeader

One of the most popular devices has by far been the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. And while it’s only been available for about 9 months or so, it appears we might now be seeing what the next Nexus phone might look like. For now, it’s being called the Galaxy Nexus 2, which isn’t of any surprise at all.

While we’re not sure yet if it’s made by Samsung or not, just by looking at it you can definitely see some resemblances to the devices that Motorola has made over the years. It would also make sense that Google might throw Motorola into the mix of the Nexus device makers with everything that it spent to acquire the company recently.

Below is the list of rumored specs that we could be looking forward to when we all sport one of these lovely beauties.

  1. Super AMOLED display with 5 inch diagonal and 720p resolution
  2. Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection
  3. 32GB of storage
  4. 8GB of RAM
  5. HSDPA 42 Mbps connectivity
  6. microUSB 2.0 with MHL and USB on the go
  7. WiFi
  8. Bluetooth 4.0
  9. Back camera is a 12 megapixel sensor with autofocus, LED flash and simultaneous HD video and image recording, touch focus, image stabilization and face and smile detection. 1080p video capture at 30 fps
  10. 2 megapixel front-facing camera with 720p capture at 30 fps
  11. 3200 mAh battery
  12. Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1
  13. Quad core Nvidia Tegra 23 quad core 2 GHz processor
  14. GPU ULP GeForce

WOW!! That’s about all I can say at the moment. Well, other than that I can’t wait until a date is announced for this beast of a phone as I would really like to see about getting one of these. Oh, and did you see #4 on that list above ? 8GB of RAM ?!?! That’s just crazy insane if it truly does come with 8GB of RAM. That will blow away a majority of home PC’s now days.

Thanks go out to Killu-Chan for the mockup of this device. It’s definitely a beautiful looking phone and I hope when it’s finally made official that it looks just like this, or very similar.

I know a lot of Galaxy Nexus owners will be upgrading to this device,  but the big question is this: How many of you current Samsung Galaxy SIII users will give up your new toy for this one ? Do you feel it’s worth it ? Is it something you’d do at any cost just to have one of these shiny new Galaxy Nexus 2 devices when it finally hits the market ?

I'm a 41 year old who is addicted to anything dealing with technology, computers, Android, sports and music. I currently reside in Rome, GA but spent most of my life in Houston, Texas. I've been a computer addict since 1982 when I got my first computer, a Commodore 64. I'm currently rocking a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I've also got an Amazon Kindle Fire and a Galaxy Nexus 7.

I just hope it’s not a “Galaxy” Nexus, as I would like someone other than Samsung to manufacture it. Looks amazing though.

@google-0e2c0b99c2c4f05d3a116160411ca6cc:disqus in the case whom you want to make the next nexus phone ?

      • Stephen Zipprich

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Motorola Nexus (not just because Goog owns them now, but because I had an OG DROID, and it was a solidly built phone IMO).

    Nvidia Tegera 23???
    12mp camera????
    8gb RAM????
If a phone ever came out with those kind of specs (which would be in around 2 years NOT a few months) it would be two expensive to buy even with a contract.

Wow, a photoshop and some made up specs! Great reporting Cliff!

    • fixxmyhead

i know huh and phone looks like garbage. i can see there taking some ques from that garbage OEM motorola

      • feeya7

Phone looks amazing. The tiny bezel is wonderful. I want a phone with zero bezel, 100% (or close to it) screen. This is a step in the right direction. Also, it looks thin, and phones need to get thinner.

        • Philip Horger

I’m all for a little bit of bezel, just as a way to protect the screen edges from damage, but it doesn’t have to be much. 1-2mm sounds good to me.

          • Dbareis

I want the next nexus but if the screen goes that close to the edge you won’t be able to put any decent protective case on it (and still use the screen) so I won’t buy it much as I’d like to.

        • http://donaithnen.livejournal.com/ Donaithnen

I think my Nexus One has too little bezel. Sometimes while holding the phone my fingers accidentally touch the sides of the screen and throw the touch sensing off.

        • Chase

Phone needs to get thinner……… looks at galaxy nexus in hand….. uhhh why?! Yeah you’re right then more people will break it and if it has a smaller capacity battery in it already then clearly the thinner phone will fit a 3200 mAh battery in it. Holy shit you people are dumb.

      • Chris

From all this I have come to a conclusion…. fixxmyhead you are a total faggggg.

        • fixxmyhead

tegra 23 and 8gb of RAM

    seems legit

  • Aleem Qureshi

I can believe maybe 1/2 of this , with out a source to validate against I’m just gonna chalk this up to Nexus Rumors.

  • http://twitter.com/PhuckYoTweet Heauxsanne Barr

There have been several dozen phones all rumored with a 12 MP camera on the back. Its gotten to the point where anytime I see that rumor, I go outside looking for a triceratops or brontosaurus in my backyard. It just doesn’t exist and I won’t believe it until there is some official from the OEM actually making the device.

    • Keyan X

      Heard of the Xperia S?

  • Incredibob

    Da hell is this?

  • lll

    720P? It shold be 1080p!

    • B3n017

does it really matter? the lens is ~1mm thin! 720p crap and 1080p crap is still crap. Video like this on a smartphone is great, but get serious please. If you want to shoot 1080p video, get something with real glass that’s maybe large enough to capture some light.

The phone does look awesome though

  • Galaxyman

    That’s obviously a Motorola design.

  • Bob Denny

Let’s hope Google pays more attention to the *basics*. My son got a Galaxy Nexus and has suffered with a poor radio since he got it. It has been exchanged twice. All three units had the exact same problem, far more dropped calls then his previous MOT phone. With max bars on his end, I have had my call vaporize with him many times. In desperation he rooted it and flashed various radios to no avail. It is clearly not a firmware problem it is an RF hardware problem and it is across the model of phone.

    • Kelly

My other half hasn’t had any trouble with his.

  • Jon

If it’s Motorola then it won’t carry the Galaxy name.

I missed that ‘minor’ detail! Too true. Goes to show how made up this is. Probably to try and get some attention away from the iPhone release rumours.

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Goes to show? How can you *not* think it’s made up?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kevin-Cassell/511937222 Kevin Cassell

This is such a load of made up rubbish. No NFC? I can understand misprint or typing errors but what a load of rubbish! It doesn’t make sense with the specs alone, let alone the design! The only thing I believe is that it’d probably be made by Motorola and it’ll have Android on it! lol.

  • Copolii

Total horseshit … slow news day?

  • Spoken Word™

I love how worked up idiots get over what is clearly labeled as a rumored phone. Of course it’s a Photoshop job, it doesn’t exist and that’s how mock ups start! And of course all the specs aren’t listed, it’s a work in progress! Geez, some of you need to relax more and enjoy the show.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It’s not even a rumor. It’s a concept. As in, someone just threw this together in Photoshop. As in, it’s posted on a site called “concept-phones.” /facepalm

  • Zyo

It’s a known fact that the next Nexus will be a line-up of around 5 devices from different manufactures.

  • gm0n3y

I just hope that it has an external storage slot this time around. I love my Galaxy Nexus, but the 16GB of storage is really annoying.

    Obvious bullshit.

    • Squeaks

      That’s why it’s called a mockup.

  • Alessandro Mencarini

    Wow. Major link baiting.

Galaxy is a Samsung trademark, so Motorola is a big no-no.
8 GB or RAM? How much would this cost? 1000$?
Next Nexus will have Android 4.2 or 4.5, whatever they decide for the next step.
Tegra 23 is also a funny typo.

  • Fart Demon

Where did you learn to write? This article is a piece of shit. Tegra 23? Really? English class is free during your formative years.

  • http://twitter.com/th3chas3R th3chas3R

that shape looks like a true tech droid! mad! hope they design a phone like that Im holding off from buying a nexus atm have a Nexus7 and waiting for the next Nexus phone to upgrade my nexus one :/

  • bluevoodo

    Most useless post ever!

    • Sinsko

      I agree… 8 GB of RAM? That’s super unrealistic.

  • Scottland

Looks and sounds amazing…the design is beautiful. A man can dream can’t he!!? 5 inches is too big thou (imagine if “that’s what she said”!? Lol)

  • Adam Outler

FFfffffake. Nexus devices have a curved face. Convex or concave. That’s a cheap fake knockoff. Quad core doesn’t belong in a phone. 4.1.1 will be obsolete when it is released in 6 months. That render can’t fit a 3200mAh battery. Google is moving to cloud so 32G is way high.

Come on guys.. some kid wants to design his perfect phone based on today’s technology.. not the stuff in R&D.

  • vs8

Can someone explain this to me?

“Quad core Nvidia Tegra 23 quad core 2 GHz processor”

In what year did Tegra 23 came out?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=714859472 Rajvir Singh

      2015

  • JustinMokriakow

I am a battery technician. The battery would be 2 inches by 3&1/2 inches by 11 mm if integrated non removable. So yeah the battery would be thicker than the iPhone

  • Chase

This is so obviously made up and so poorly done at that.

  • http://twitter.com/xplodwild Guillaume

LOL Tegra 23 – this is the dumbest hoax I’ve ever seen. Next nexus will feature Exynos5 processor

Does anyone know why every time I go to my gallery it closes back up -.-

  • duh

This is a total fake and poor reporting. You claim the style is close to motorola and it is supposedly the “Galaxy” Nexus 2… don’t you know Galaxy is a Samsung monicker?

  • hesh

8gig of ram? Who come up with this bulshit

  • djay

Not liking the tiny bezel or motorola-esque ugly design

  • Moses.

I’m just waiting to put hands on this monster…

  • http://omgdroid.com/ Tony Simons

Just a note for all the naysayers…. This is a mockup. Nobody said anything about it being real. Of course the specs are blown out of proportion. If you think otherwise, you’re foolish. Regardless, it’s worthy of posting, and it obviously got your attention. Thanks for throwing in your two cents.

    • Drew Walton

Talk about trollbait. Nice job Tony! :-D

      • http://omgdroid.com/ Tony Simons

        You like that, eh?

  • John

    This is ugly!
I love Galaxy nexus & Nexus S like!
But this….. is very ugly! blame google if this is google’s!
& its galaxy note like! 4.65 inch is very handy. google shouldnt made it Bigger!

  • Alu Zeros

Who wants a 5 inch for a phone? They do have to fit in our pocket, wouldnt be a problem if your shaq i guess

  • http://about.me/teamdave teamdave™

that looks a bit minging tbh. it looks like it would just snap in half in my pocket. and that edge to edge screen would do my head in, you wouldnt be able to hold it with one hand without touching activating the touchscreen on it
