Google Maps updated to 6.0, say hello to indoor maps
Google Maps just keeps on getting better, doesn’t it? I was glad to awake to an update this morning afternoon that got me bumped up to version 6.0. Upon perusing the changelog, I was greeted with some surprising and exciting changes. Apparently, Google isn’t going to stop until they map out the entire planet — indoors and out. In this newest version, we get introduced to “Indoor Maps,” now available for select airports, shopping malls, and more.
That’s not it, either. There was also a menu added to the top toolbar, which makes it easier to switch between common features, as well as an updated home screen for “Places” which displays popular searches based on your location. Last, but not least, there is now an option to disable automatic screen dimming for Navigation.
Google Maps and Navigation is, by far, one of my most used applications. I’m horrible with directions, and I’m not afraid to admit it. Since I got my Android phone, I’ve never gotten lost. Good enough for me.
