Google Now update brings movie showtimes, public alerts, and you can manually add sports teams

By a show of hands, who in the audience has a device running Android 4.1? If you raised your hand, you might be excited to learn about the latest update to one of Jelly Bean’s bread-and-butter features, Google Now. Earlier this evening, the first update for the app landed on the Google Play Store and it brings along with it a few nice new features.
This bump brings us:
- Movies – see movie showtimes and more
- Public alerts – receive emergency messages such as storm warnings and earthquake alerts
- Add favorite sports teams to follow in real time (from Settings)
- Support for Korea
I’m stoked to see finally see the ability to add sports teams to Google Now. Previously, the option was there, but there was no way to add a team, and I’ve yet to see an actual score card pop up, or anything else sports-related for that matter. With football season right around the corner, this will make for a perfect way for me to keep up with my Tampa Bay Bucs.
Run — don’t walk — to the Google Play Store ASAP to grab your update. (Ok… You can’t physically run there, but you get my drift.)
(Remember, you must be on Jelly Bean, or it’s just plain old Google Search)
