Google screws over Android in favor of iOS?

bullshit

In a very “what the fucking fuck” mood on behalf of Google, as it seems that iOS will be receiving a updated version of Google’s Voice Search App. While I am all for Google dominating on the iPhone, I am not cool with them giving the updated version of the app to their competitors BEFORE their loyal users on Android! That’s right folks, seems iOS will receive the updated version of the standalone app before anyone on Android 4.0 or lower. The mass majority of Android users are on Ice Cream Sandwich or lower so what gives Google?

For once I was able to say “watch this shit” to some hipster douche who whipped out his phone and asked that snobby little twerp Siri a question. Now, Google has taken the bullets out of my gun and gave them to the enemy! I’m dumbfounded.

I highly doubt Apple would ever go out of their way to hook up Android users with their latest technology before iPhone users! Got a brand new top of the line Samsung Galaxy S III with ICS on it? Well guess what? Bobby iPhoner has Google’s latest updated version of Google voice search before you (unless hacking doesn’t scare you away)! Does that piss you off? It should!

Now don’t get me wrong, I love Google, I just don’t see how they can justify this bullshit. There is no excuse for Google giving ANYTHING over to iPhone users before their own users. NO EXCUSE! Google is in direct competition with iOS.

In the words of my good friend Sunil….”Facepalm Google“.

    Let’s be clear about something:

It’s an update to Google Voice, not Google Now (which will not be coming to the iPhone, I can guarantee you that). Voice seriously lacks on the iPhone and NEEDS an update desperately. Google Voice on Android is, and has always had tight integration.

    People are overreacting.

@chriskerrigan:disqus good to see ya, brother! I have to agree that people love to overreact. As you can see though, nothing’s changed over here, LOL. We still love pissing the world off, as you can tell by Nic’s post.

I agree with Chris Kerrigan’s comment, but I also think Google could be using the iPhone app as a platform to experiment and test a similar though enhanced app for Android handets running ICS and older.

Then again, I could just have a case of wishful thinking.

Google’s voice search is out performing IOS. This is a direct attempt to show them just how outclassed they are.

Also a defensive move as one of the last things it has in IOS is its default search…..adding this to it might secure said contract.

Google Voice is horrible on Gingerbread as well, where is that update?? But really, calm down, they arent getting Google Now, just an update for google voice, right?

This rant is absurd fanboyism at its worst. The article closes with; “Google is in direct competition with iOS”. Bullshit. Android is in direct competition, not Google. Google just wants you to use the internet so you see their ads, all the better if it’s through one of their apps.

I highly doubt there is only one team of devs working on Google Apps for iOS and Android. In all likelihood, there are at least two teams, one for each platform being developed for. It’s not like some mobile applications manager shifted resources from Android development to iOS in order to push out an iOS app and piss off Android users. There is probably parallel development occuring and the iOS team got it done first.
Also, consider the sheer volume of iOS users and their positive reaction to Chrome. This is awesome for Android (and Google). When an iOS user wants to jump ship to another platform they’ll be more likely to choose Android because of all the positive exposure to Google apps they’ve had. The best way to ensure that it happens is to release quality apps on other platforms.
No one is getting screwed over. You’re wrong if you’re mad at Google because your GSIII doesn’t have Google Now or the latest Voice Actions. The GSII isn’t an Android phone, it’s a Samsung phone running a modified version of the Android OS. The only “Android” phones are those in the Nexus line, who have access to the apps that are cause this kerfuffle. If anyone is to be mad at anybody it should be the manufacturers for not being aggressive enough with pushing out updates and the carriers for taking so damn long to approve them.

    • Curtis Kenworthy

Agreed! The Nexus line of phones should have been 1st in line to get the 4.1 OS! But instead we’re all waiting for that day when it magically appears OTA! But for now I am happy with the phone and the performance, just don’t see why Google & Samsung (and Sprint as well) are dragging their feet with this update! Let’s have it already! There were rumors of pushing it out in mid July! Well that time frame has come & gone! Maybe as a Christmas gift then…

Dude … give it a break. This is truly not important in the scheme of things. But, BTW, Apple has dropped Google maps and Youtube in the next iOS drop … looks like Apple is in control … GO TEAM GO!

How fucking petty can you possibly get? You disgust me. Some of the posts on this site are very useful, but ones like these make me wonder if you’re actually 14.

You’re not being “edgy” or “clever” or anything like that. What you’re actually being is an arrogant elitist toolbag. I’m a die-hard Android and HTC fan but at least I have some maturity when I talk about Apple.

“waaaaaaah. Google is giving their iOS apps updates. Waaaaaaaah!! but but…iPHONE SHITTY HIPSTER DOUCHE BLAH BLAH!!!! why google whyyyyy”

That’s what you sound like. if a six-year old came up to you screaming like that, would you even listen?

Grow the fuck up. You get pissed when Apple does anything better than Google, and you get pissed when Google does anything good for Apple. Learn this; Google is a business. You’re just a money-maker. You’re not Google’s child. Google does not need to cater to you.

Lol glad you loved the article! :-)
