Anyone who is around my age (early twenties) will surely have fond memories of your PlayStation and PlayStation 2. You will have even fonder memories of the highly coveted Grand Theft Auto series. Although there were two of them released previously, most of us will agree that the release of Grand Theft Auto III on the PlayStation 2 is where it all started for the franchise.

Ah yes, the good ‘ol days of blowing up cars, running over innocent people on the street, bringing a hooker into an alley, and maybe even beating someone’s face in with a baseball bat. Well, Rockstar wants you to relive that experience — this time on your Android device.

Yep, that’s right folks. Rockstar has announced that they will be porting Grand Theft Auto III to ‘select’ Android devices this fall. Rockstar has released a tentative list of devices the game will support, and they are as follows:

  • HTC EVO 3D
  • Motorola Droid X2
  • Motorola Atrix
  • Motorola Xoom
  • Samsung Galaxy S II
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • LG Optimus 2X
  • ASUS Eee Pad Transformer
  • Acer Iconia
We may see that list expand as we closer to release, but for now it looks like only the more graphically capable devices will be supported (makes sense). Are you excited? We are.

A 22-year old proud New Yorker with an obsession with all-things Android. I consider myself a tech junkie, and have recently begun sharing my thoughts and opinions through writing for various Android websites. An SEO and grammar Nazi, I love what I do and take my writings very seriously. My first Android device was an OG Droid (a phone I still have laying around the house). From there I went to a Droid Incredible, Samsung Fascinate & HTC Merge. I also have a fascination and slight obsession with Android-based tablets, which you may see from my style of writing.

I’ve never played GTA (I am a 32yo female, not so much a gamer, more of a tech geek), but since I have the ASUS Eee Pad, maybe I will check it out. Thanks for the info!
