How to make the Samsung Galaxy S III faster (add more butter!)

As a proud owner of Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Galaxy S III, I’ve already been super impressed with the speed and performance of the phone so far, but I just stumbled on a nifty little tip that will help you to add even more butter to your already-smooth device. Best of all, you don’t need root access or any real hackery to get the job done — if you are able to read this post, you’ll be able to do this without hindrance.

Also, it doesn’t even matter which S3 you have. This trick can be applied to any of the U.S. carrier-branded variants, as well as the international quad-core beast.

The first thing you want to do is head over to your device settings and navigate to the Developer options tab. Inside of this menu, you’ll want to find the “Window animation scale” setting, under the User Interface section. By default, this is set to Animation scale: 1x. Lower that value to 0.5x and head back out to the Developers option tab again.

Now, go into the “Transition animation scale” setting, which again is set to 1x by default, and change this value to 0.5x also. That’s it — nothing more, nothing less.

What you’ve just done will provide a noticeable boost in the overall snappiness of your phone. Opening apps will now be even smoother than before, and the annoying stutter I’ve seen some folks complain about when unlocking the device’s lockscreen will no longer be present.
