How to Unlock the Bootloader, Flash Recovery and gain Root on your HTC One V

So. You managed to get your hands on a HTC One V, did you? If you’re like me, you’re most likely eager to tap into the phone’s inner-powers with the help of a little bit of hackery. Sound enticing? Well, thanks to this handy guide from XDA Senior Member mmmcfc, you can easily unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and ROM, and gain root on your device without having to stumble around in the dark while doing so. Check out his guide below:

Step 1: Unlock your devices bootloader

• First you have to register at htcdev.com
• Unlock the bootloader on your phone by following the instructions at http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
• Pick your device (One V) or if it is not listed just choose “All Other Supported Models”

Step 2: Flashing Recovery

• Currently there is no recovery available for this device but hopefully there will be one soon
• Download and install the Android Standard Developer Kit, I placed the folder at C://
• Place the Clockwork Mod recovery.img where the fastboot.exe is locate (bundled with the SDK)
• Now open command prompt and navigate to your Android SDK folder by pressing cd
• Now type:
  fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_recovery.img

Step 3: Rooting your phone

• Currently there is no recovery available for this device but hopefully there will be one soon
• Download the superuser.zip
• Connect your phone to your computer using your micro USB cable and place the superuser.zip on the root of your microSd card Flash it with the Recovery:
• Turn your device off and then hold the Volume Down and Power button at the same time to boot into the Bootloader
• Navigate with Volume Buttons and Power to get to Recovery
• Now flash the superuser.zip in the recovery:

1.install zip from sdcard
2.choose the superuser.zip from the root of the microSD card
3.confirm that this is what you want to do
4.reboot your device

• Congratulations you have now rooted your HTC One V
