HTC Amaze 4G and Sensation Get Early Tastes of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)

Chalk up two more devices in the quickly growing list of those lucky enough to already have custom Jelly Bean ROMs. The HTC Amaze 4G and HTC Sensation are the newest inductees into the Android 4.1 custom ROM family, thanks to alpha builds that popped up for both devices over on XDA. Before we get into the details, let’s give credit where credit is due, shall we?

Heading up the project for the Amaze is XDA Recognized Developer sportsstar89, who managed to get an AOSP ROM up and running, in the form of CyanogenMod 10. This is pretty exciting news for Amaze owners (like I was before getting my Galaxy S III), as there hasn’t been a true AOSP ROM for the phone up until this point. XDA Forum Member sahil_lombar, with the help of others, is leading the project for the HTC Sensation.

Neither ROM is ready to be your “daily driver” just yet, as there are still a handful of bugs lingering on both devices. Regardless, it’s always nice to know your device is in the hands of good people, and checking back for updates gives you something to look forward to.

For now, things not working on the Sensation include:

Radio
Wifi
Audio
Google Now
Camera
Light Sensors
Button and Notification lights
and many other things

And for the Amaze:

* Wi-Fi (Got borked again)
* GPS
* GSM
* Camera

    He also made one for Ice Cream Sandwich before it was released. It had the exact same missing “features” (you know, like the abillity to make phone calls), and still doesn’t work either. This ROM will probably never work either.
