International Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update confirmed for August 29th

Samsung has been super busy as of late with the recent launch of its latest flagship device, the Galaxy S III, as well as the Galaxy Note 10.1. We’re also only a week away from IFA, at which we expect to see the grand unveiling of the Galaxy Note II, but it looks like that’s not the only thing on tap for this year’s Unpacked event.

According to Android Central, the International Galaxy S III (GT-i9300) will get the official Jelly Bean update we told you was on the horizon last week and it’s still set to roll out on August 29th, shortly after Unpacked. We’re told that the OTA will first be available in the UK, as well as a number of other countries.

The bad news, at least for us here in the States, is that there’s no info regarding any of the carrier-branded variants, though we can’t imagine Samsung taking any more time than necessary with this one. I think it will all boil down to the carriers as to when we see an official Android 4.1 update.

Either way, it’s awesome to hear that Sammy isn’t sleeping on pushing out the latest version of Android to its customers. After all, it’s what we want — it’s what we deserve — and it looks like it’s what we’re going to get.

Stay tuned. We’ll be bringing you more on Unpacked as it all goes down.
