Is T-Mobile gearing up for a unlimited 4G data plan?
So, it seems rumors are swelling about America’s fourth largest carrier bringing back unlimited data. It feels like these rumors have been around for forever, but now we have a piece of the puzzle we didn’t have before.
Enter the above image of a survey going around to random T-Mobile customers. Now, I know it’s a screenshot from a shitty iPhone, FYI that is most defiantly NOT my phone. I rock an Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile. Now that we cleared that up. The above screenshot is far from proof that anything is going to change at Big Magenta, but it is defiantly a sign that they are mulling it over.
So, all bullshit aside, I freaking LOVE T-Mobile. I started out with Metro PCS for many years when they first started. I had two stints with AT&T, the first horrible and the second pretty good. Once with Verizon, and that was ok. Then my second longest stint besides Metro was with Sprint, or as I call them SPENT. Smh, I honestly don’t see how right now T-Mobile is lagging behind Sprint. Sure Sprint is the only “truly unlimited data” carrier, but after the WiMax disaster and their severely slow dial-up network, who cares if its unlimited if you can barely use it?
If T-Mobile could implement a truly unlimited and reliable 4G network, I personally feel they will be light years ahead of Sprint and a contender against Big Blue and Big Red. Let’s face it, after the AT&T merger failed to go through it left T-Mobile in a situation with a lot of extra spectrum and dough. What we do know is T-Mobile is using these extras in the right way by increasing coverage and implementing 4G LTE on their network. What we don’t know is if the do roll out an unlimited 4g plan is how much would the plan cost, and would it be a part of their upcoming 4G LTE or only cover their HSPA+ network which is capable of speeds up to 42Mbps, which has been proven faster than Verizon’s 4G LTE network in 11 cities according to speed tests conducted by PC Magazine.
We want to know your thoughts. Would you leave your current carrier if T-Mobile rolls this out? If you were thinking about leaving T-Mobile, would this make you want to stay? Want to say hi?
