Is this the End of the Road for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

It looks like we may be nearing the end of an era for one of last year’s most talked about devices in the Android community and still one of the most respected devices on the scene, especially in terms of the phone’s massive development community. When the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was first introduced on Verizon, it came with a $299 price tag, which was subsequently lowered to $199 just a few months later. Now, it looks like Big Red has taken a chunk out of the retail price again, offering the phone for only $149 with an automatic $50 online discount.
Now, before you start to panic, Verizon has not released any statements regarding the Galaxy Nexus being discontinued; however, Droid-Life is reporting that Best Buy is starting to change supply codes for the phone in its inventory systems to “X”, which in most cases means the device has reached its “end of life” (EOL).
Of course, the Galaxy S III is set to be released in just under 48 hours now here in the US, so BBY could be starting to make room for the next big thing. At any rate, the Galaxy Nexus is still one of the hottest phones available right now and is loved by many. If this is the end of the road, we’d definitely like to thank it for all the memories.
