List of essential Android apps – Part 3
Welcome to part three of my list of essential Android apps. The list consists of apps which I think everyone should check out. You can check out the first and second part of the list here and here, respectively. Lets’ get started then.
Cerberus anti theft (2.99€)
Cerberus is one of the, if not the, best anti theft apps that I’ve come across. Like all anti theft apps, you can track your phone if it’s lost or stolen. In addition to that, you can control your phone via a web client. The web client allows you to do stuff like – Toggle GPS and WiFi, Check call and SMS log, wipe your internal SD card, Lock the device with a code, record audio from the microphone, record video (also using the front camera, if available), sound an alarm, and the list goes on. The app costs around $3.70 , and it lets you track up to 5 devices.
You can get Cerberus from here.
Whatsapp Messenger (Free)
I’m sure everyone knows what BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) is. Whatsapp is just like BBM, but better. Better how you ask ?, Well for starters you don’t need to sign up for any Blackberry Plans to use Whatsapp, it’ll work with your existing internet plan or even WiFi. Then, there is no hassle of exchanging PINS or scanning QR codes, if you have Whatsapp and your friend has Whatsapp the only that you need to chat with him is his phone number. Most importantly it’s cheap, the app is free for a year, and then it costs $ 0.99 per year.
You can download Whatsapp Messenger from here.
KeepScreen (Free)
Don’t you just hate it when you’re deeply engrossed in reading something or watching a video on your phone/tablet and then suddenly the just screen timeouts and goes off ? I’m sure it has happened to most of us, and it is very frustrating. This is where KeepScreen comes into picture. KeepScreen overrides the screen timeout parameter and stops your screen from turning off while using some predefined apps. Its similar to the Smart Stay app found in the Samsung Galaxy S3, but it won’t drain your battery as much.
You can download KeepScreen from here.
Never miss the call (Free)
There are some calls you just cannot afford to miss, like your boss or worse – your girlfriend. Never miss the call lets you create a list of people whose call you don’t want to miss. So, whenever the people in the aforementioned list call you or text you, your phone will ring even if its on silent mode. Its a pretty lightweight and simple app.
You can download the app from here
On{x} (Free)
On{x} (pronounced on-ex) is a task automation app from Microsoft. On{x} lets you automate almost anything and everything on your phone. You can either use existing automation rules or create your own rule, the possibilities are limitless. You can read our review on the On{x} here.
You can download On{x} from here.
That’s all for part three folks. Part four is coming soon, stay tuned.
Adios!
