Microsoft vs Google: clashing over Android
For the first time Microsoft and Google are directly butting heads in a legal dispute about Android. So far only manufactures have felt the pain of paying royalties to Microsoft for patent infringements. This is the latest development in a case between Motorola and Microsoft waged on the battlefield of courtrooms in the US and Germany.
In Munich, Microsoft has stated that they intend to add Google as a defendant, alongside of Motorola due to a mapping feature found in Motorola phones. Because of Microsoft’s limited access to information on Google’s servers, they feel this is a necessary move to make in this case.
Motorola and Microsoft are also disputing patents in separate cases in Mannheim, Germany and Seattle over scheduling software, video and wireless technologies.
