Motorola Defy and Defy+ get unofficial CM10 Android 4.1.2 builds courtesy of XDA

Owners of the Defy and Defy+ may have gotten the cold shoulder from Motorola, in terms of the bad news that they won’t see any updates to the latest and greatest versions of Android, but that doesn’t mean they’ve been completely abandoned, at least not by the development community, they haven’t. XDA Recognized Developer, Quarx, has released unofficial versions of CM10 for both devices, based on the Android 4.1.2 source code. Pretty nice of him,  if I must say so myself.

It’s important to note that these builds aren’t exactly stable yet, as they’re still quite young in their development life cycle. There are still some bugs that need to be worked out, but the project has come a long way since it started back in July, and the comments in the discussion thread look promising, so this is a project you’ll definitely want to keep your eyes on if you’re a Defy/Defy+ owner, or possibly even give it a try if you’re not afraid to do some testing.

Keep in mind, we’re not responsible if you mess your phone up, so be sure to read everything carefully before diving in, and for God’s sake, make sure to make a Nandroid backup. You’ll probably end up needing it somewhere down the line when you want to revert back to your normal setup. Also, make sure you download the correct ROM for your device. They’re is one for the Defy and one for the Defy+ and they don’t mix and match well.
