Will the Motorola DROID RAZR full retail price set you back $649?
The rumored price tag that Verizon customers may end up seeing if they intend to purchase a DROID RAZR is $649. That’s a bit outlandish, don’t you think? Word on the streets is, when the pre-order page goes live two days from the time of this post, that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at. This is a dangerous move for manufacturers, as the affordability of most Android devices is one of the key factors in what has helped it grow to the amazing size it now is today. Why go all Apple on us now with these outrageous, iPhone-like prices?
Hit the break for my two cents on these rapidly-increasing phone prices.
In all fairness, the RAZR is an absolutely wonderful device. You’ve probably already had a chance to look at some of its specs, so I’m sure you know it is, by no means, a pushover. Regardless, I’m really hoping that this isn’t the beginning of a new era that we’re entering. With retail prices like this, I’d imagine even new customers will end up shelling out over $300 for a phone and that is quite disturbing. Also, what does this mean for the Galaxy Nexus? No official price has been set yet, but with 16GB and 32GB models rumored, we may just be looking at the next iOS-priced phone.
What do you think? Is the RAZR worth $649? Would you consider paying $700 or more for the Nexus? Drop us a comment below, and feel free to speak your mind on these ever-increasing device price tags.
