Motorola introduces “The new RAZR family”

I, along with more than 12,000 others around the globe, watched today’s event that Motorola held in New York. The event was mainly to announce not two, but three new Motorola that shall be on the market soon — the RAZR M, RAZR HD, and RAZR MAXX HD. That’s  right they are reinventing  rejuvenating one of their most famous set of devices, and felt the need to have a special event for us.

Below I’m just going to cover the facts in detail, and show you guys some media provided by Motorola about all the phones. My thoughts about the event and the unveiling shall come later. Let’s start off with the baby of the new RAZR family, the Droid RAZR M.

DROID RAZR M

That’s right, the M is going to be the “smallest” of the 3 devices, and with that it comes with the cheapest price tag. Here are the specs for the device:

  • 4.3″ 540×960  QHD display
  • Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB storage, microSD card slot
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • 8MP rear shooter
  • NFC
  • 60.9 x 122.5 x 8.3; 126g
  • 2000mAbh battery
  • Android 4.0.x

With this being the budget device from the 3 the specs don’t seem to shabby, eh? And by budget I mean this device will run you 99$ on contract from Verizon.

The device will also be available in black and white, for those of you who need difference colors to match your fashion sense. Lastly, the M is available for pre-order now! You can pre-order your Droid RAZR M HERE, they shall ship next week, along with being in stores next week. If you love Motorola and don’t want to spend a tremendous amount of money on your next device, the RAZR M is the way to go hands-down.

Now on to its big brothers…

Droid RAZR HD

Now this is the device we were all waiting and hoping for. The HD is so far different from last years RAZR, you’d have to be kicking yourself right now if you recently purchased one. Let’s check out the specs:

  • 4.7″ SAMOLED HD 720p display with Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
  • Android 4.0.4
  • Verizon 4G LTE
  • 1GB RAM
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 16GB (12GB usable) internal storage
  • 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera
  • microSD slot
  • 2500mAh battery (21 hours talk time, 10 hours video streaming, 27 hours music steaming)
  • NFC-enabled

Well damn, I’m pretty speechless. Those specs push the S3 out of the pool — not completely blow them out of the water though. Motorola is definitely stepping up their game with these more-than remodeled RAZRs. This model will also be available in black and white, you divas.

Unfortunately Moto didn’t tell us anything about pricing or availability for the HD, all they said was that it’ll be ready “before the holidays.” For some reason they kept stressing that, hopefully they’ll keep their promise.

Now last but not least….

Droid RAZR MAXX HD

After the word “Droid” they seem to just scream the rest at you huh? Now you can just imagine that the MAXX HD is similar to the regular HD, like last years model, but this season they have a few more distinctions, as seem below:

  •  32GB (26GB usable) internal storage
  •  3300mAh for MAXX HD (13 hours of continuous video)
  • Only in black

Not many changes over the regular HD, but enough for me to want to make a list. Along with the HD, the MAXX HD was giving the same word when talking about pricing and availability.

Extras

There are extra bits of information about these phones, and they actually happen to be pretty major. First off, for all my root-ers, developers, and hackers, there WILL be developer editions of each phone. Expect them to be the same price as the off-contract price, and they should also be available when each respective phone is available. The Droid RAZR M Developer Edition’s sign up page is actually live, HERE.

Also, the RAZR M will have an Intel processing chip inside instead of the Snapdragon, that is only in Europe. This may be the phone that will be announced at the Moto/Intel event later this month. For our Canadian brothers, Rogers claims exclusivity for the RAZR HD LTE (as it will be named). We don’t know for how long, but we do know that if you want to be the first with the HD LTE, you’re going to have to be on Rogers’. Lastly, ALL of these devices will be upgraded to Jellybean (Android 4.1) “very soon”, along with a lot of past devices from Moto, if not, they will give you $100 to upgrade, find out more here! — I wonder if their Jellybean update will beat Samsung’s?

So how’s that lineup sound to everyone? I’ll tell you how I feel about it….later. Which phone are you guys going to get, because I know you WILL be getting one. I don’t even have to force you.

Welcome to the new Motorola…
