Netflix App Update

2012 10 29 19.29.49

It’s a family account

So the new update for Netflix  has mixed reviews. The update does seem faster, but taking away the menu was a bad choice (can you tell I haven’t looked at it in over a month?). The UI is slick, but usability has gone down the drain for some users. I’m actually able to use it just fine, experience no lag and was able to add movies to my Instant Queue without issue, but I am at home and using WiFi on an Atrix 2.

Testing it on my Nook Color using an N2A card on the Android side there is significant lag once you scroll past the first screen. To be honest, I don’t use Netflix on my phone as much as I do on my Roku box and my daughter hasn’t picked up her phone in about two weeks. But the update sucks for tablets.

The changelog only lists two updates:

  • Netflix is now available in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
  • Improved subtitles support on Android v4.x

If you’ve tested out the “improved” subtitles, let us know what you think.

Mom, computer geek, photography nut, Android evangelist/devotee, Googlephile, web technology and social media fanatic. Default tech support for all family members across three states -- even for my teenage son who prefers to be a gamer instead of a computer geek. I still have to get the parts for his systems though. Easily distracted. Credentials: 15+ in the web technology industry, self-confessed photography and gadget geek. Not a gamer though, I leave that up to my son. Gift cards to Fry’s make me happy.
