One-Click Google Wallet Installer released for US Samsung Galaxy S III variants

A while back, I wrote an article about a mod that could be applied to install Google Wallet on the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III running Jelly Bean stock-based ROM’s. A lot has changed in the past two months since writing that. Now, thanks to XDA Senior Member Prl91, you can install Wallet on the AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile GS3 with a simple one-click procedure that can be ran via an install-able .apk file.

As is the case with most Android hackery, you’ll need root access to apply this modification. You’ll also need an unlocked bootloader and BusyBox installed on your phone. Once your good to go, head on over to the original thread on XDA for the app file (there’s a link at the bottom of this post). Make sure you’ve gone into your security settings and allowed installation from unknown sources, otherwise the install won’t work.

The process of installing Google Wallet manually isn’t necessarily all that hard, but it’s not a walk in the park either. Users have to edit their build.prop file, install the proper NFC libs, set up Google Wallet, then edit the build.prop back to its original values.

Depending on whether you are running Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, TouchWiz, and AOSP, the process be slightly different in each scenario. This app takes all the guesswork out and does everything for you. You can even restore your build.prop once you’ve set Wallet up.

Remember to make a backup before doing this, just in case. It worked just fine for me on my T-Mobile Galaxy S III, but that’s not to say there isn’t the possibility of error.
