Reinvent your homescreen with Bonne App!’s battery-friendly video wallpaper suite

You’ve all seen live wallpapers by now, but there’s a good possibility you’ve never seen video wallpapers before — and if you have, there’s a good chance the ones you saw were quickly disregarded as battery draining monsters. Well if you’ve always wished there’d be a day when you could use a video loop as your homescreen background without having to carry a spare battery or recharge two to three times a day, we’ve got a treat for you.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of not only meeting the man behind BONNE APP!, Mr. Jack Hunter, but I’ve had the privilege of testing out his entire suite of video wallpapers. In total, there are three packs — Alive Video Wallpaper, Ocean Alive Video Wallpaper, and Waterfall Video Wallpaper. Each pack is available for free, but is limited to only three videos per pack. Paid versions of each set are available for $0.99 and include the entire set of videos.

Aside from being absolutely stunning works of art, the most mind-blowing aspect about Jack’s wallpaper suite is that they do not cause massive battery drainage like you’d expect them too. I use them as my daily wallpaper (I switch them up depending on the mood I’m in that particular day) and my phone last just as long as it does with any regular live wallpaper, and perhaps even a bit longer.

After downloading a pack, you must first download the videos. This can be done individually, or you can use the app’s “Download all videos” button to snag them all in one fell swoop. They are rather hefty in size, so you’ll want to make sure you have a WiFi connection to download them, unless you have unlimited data of course. At any rate, you only have to do this once, so once you have them all on your device, you’re good to  go.

Rather than rambling on an on about these beauties, why don’t I just show you how amazing they are with some screenshots and a video of the three packs in their entirety. I’ve also included links for those who’d like to try them out for themselves.

As you can see, these wallpapers are second to none, as far as graphics are concerned. They’re crystal clear and run smooth as silk. Go ahead and try the free packs before you decide to spend any money. Once you’ve seen a few of them in action, you’ll be itching to drop the three bucks it’ll cost you pick up the entire lineup.

Cheers Jack!
