[Rumor] Will the Nintendo Wii U be powered by Android?

Here’s a juicy little offering from the rumor mill. Apparently, Nintendo has been in cahoots with Google to integrate the Android operating system into the gaming industry giant’s next generation Wii device — the Nintendo Wii U. While, details are slim-to-none at the moment, Twitter leaks between high level Android developers and Nintendo were are to blame for this rumor. These exchanges have since been deleted, but not before being spotted by our friends over at DroidGamers.

For now, we’ll keep this filed away in our “cool, but most likely won’t happen” drawer. With E3 2012 supposed to be the big stage where the Wii U is unveiled, we’ll just have to wait and see if there’s any truth here. If there is, you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be picking one of these babies up when it hits store shelves.
