Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 official, go big or go home

Thank God for Google Translate for giving me the info on this one…

With the capability of today’s smartphones on the market, I’m really not sure how well a PMP will do on sales.  Despite that, Samsung has officially announced their new Galaxy Player 5.8.  Nothing yet on a launch date or pricing, but I imagine it would be kept within a reasonable amount to make it an attractive purchase.

It obviously comes with a huge screen, and high-quality stereo speakers using Sammy’s sound field technology Sound Alive they state will “to provide the best environment for the use of various multimedia content, including video lectures.”  Even with a slightly under par resolution, it should be a pretty solid multimedia device.

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 5.8″ 960×540 qHD display
  • 2500mAh battery
  • 16/32GB memory (up to 32GB micro SD card slot)
  • latest Touchwiz

Kudos on the larger battery that’s included.  The lack of cellular radio should also contribute to battery life.  Hopefully Samsung will give us more info at IFA 2012 real soon.

I have an old EVO with a very cracked case, its not used as a cell phone any more, but after putting.g a 32gb card in it I use it all the time as a camera and a music player.
I look forward to replacing it with this new Galaxy Player.
