I’ll warn you now. If you want to avoid spoilers on what to expect from next week’s event in New York City, you might want to skip reading this article, because from this point out, that’s what it’s laced with. We’ve been talking rumors about what’s to come for some time now. We’ve heard chatter about Android 4.2 and a new Nexus phone from LG. We’ve even heard rumors of a Sony Nexus phone, though they’ve since been confirmed as nothing more than a cruel hoax, but now we’ve got solid details — or at least that’s what TheNextWeb seems to think they are, and we’ve got no reason not to believe them.

So here’s the scoop. First, we will be seeing Android 4.2, which will be an updated version of Jelly Bean. If you were hoping for a new dessert code name, like Key Lime Pie, sorry to burst your bubble. It’s not happening with this update. That being said, here’s what to look for:

Speaking of the OS itself, we have some details on that too. It has been confirmed that as part of Android 4.2, Google will introduce ‘Content in the center,’ which will allow users to access Play Store content from a widget and ‘Tablet Sharing’ which will suit families and enterprise users, providing them with a simple and easy to switch between several users on a tablet, each with their own email and apps.

Think Windows user switching, but now on Android.

Our source says that Android 4.2 will compete with Apple’s iOS 6, in that the panoramic camera settings will be updated to support both horizontal and vertical movement by default.

Next up, we’ll also see the LG Nexus 4 make its debut. The N4 will be the first quad-core Nexus phone, running a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon processor, 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera (and 1.3-megapixel front-facing snapper) and rocking a 2100mAh battery. Of course, Android 4.2 will come installed out of the box. Specs-wise, the device is still just a bit shy of the Samsung Galaxy S III, but not a lackluster offering, by any means.

The “big” story here though, is that of Google’s upcoming new high-end tablet, which will be manufactured by Samsung. Believed (but not confirmed) to be called the Nexus 10, the tablet will also coming running Android 4.2, and runs a 2560×1600 pixel (16:10) resolution, which we believe will offer around 300 pixels per inch (PPI) compared to the new iPad’s 264 PPI. No additional specs for the N10 have leaked yet, but as time grows closer to the event, we’re likely to start seeing more action on that front.

Last, but not least, Google will also launch 2 (yes two) 32GB models of its Nexus 7 tablet: one WiFi only and one with HSPA+ (3G support). No pricing or carrier details yet here, but again, expect more in the coming days.

Android 4.2 will compete with iOS 6?
I thought Gingerbread was doing that. 4.2 should compete with iOS 9 for a fair comparison.
