[UPDATE] Sprint giving Galaxy Nexus customers a free extended battery beginning 8/19 (No purchase necessary!)
Update: We’ve been told by various readers there were some issues and uncertainties on this deal on whether you have to actually buy the Galaxy Nexus to get this deal, which was apparently being advised by some Sprint agents. We called Sprint telesales and confirmed directly they could do the order for the free battery/door without buying the Nexus. We also verified this can be done online with the promo code. When you’re shopping accessories on the Sprint site, it does show that it is a deal for buying the phone. However if you add the item to your cart, enter the code, and go direct to check-out it will work. Buyers are still responsible for any applicable shipping charges. As of a little earlier today, the batteries seemed to still be in stock and orders were processing.
Well, would you look at what just popped up in our inbox. Thanks to an anonymous tipster, what you’re looking at are internal Sprint screenshots from a memo sent out to employees to prep them for a pretty awesome upcoming special.
According to the leak, starting August 19th, Sprint customers who own a Galaxy Nexus can get a free extended battery for their phones, no purchase necessary and no strings attached.
The deal will only be available via Sprint’s website or through telesales, and you’ll still be responsible for shipping costs, but hey — you’re going to be saving $49.95 and adding a ton of extra battery life to your daily routine. Check out a summary of the important details below:
- May be offered proactively
- Offer good while supplies last
- Available to new and existing customers (no purchase necessary)
- Customer must enter promo code at checkout if buying online
- No promo code needed if ordering through telesales
The important thing to keep in mind here is, the deal only lasts as long as supplies do, so you might want to be on the ball about ordering one when the deal goes live on Sunday.
