Verizon upgrades the Stratosphere with the Pantech Star Q
Last year, we were fortunate enough to see the first 4G Qwerty slider from Verizon in the form of the Stratosphere. Fast forward to now and you can increase the selection by 100% with the addition of the Droid 4. Well, now Verizon wants to add another device to that selection, with the Star Q by Pantech.
Pantech has never really been known to produce high-range devices, and that won’t change here. The Star Q is a device that features 4G and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard — and it won’t break the bank for all of you out there that desire a physical keyboard and dislike Motorola.
The spec list that accompanies this device is as follows:
- 5-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard
- 4″ WVGA display
- Android 4.0.4
- 1.5Ghz Dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
- Verizon 4G LTE
- 3mp Rear camera
- Bluetooth 4.0
Now I must say, for being advertised as a mid-to-low-end phone, the processor (I guess S4′s are the new standard) and having ICS on the device stock is a real treat. The main drawbacks are definitely the lack of a FFC, small screen, and just overall low quality. The device is looking to be released for $99 on contract. Now, it may be just me, or does that seem to high?
For any of those out there yearning to keep their hardware keyboards, are you going to be picking this up instead of anything from the DROID series?
